I've just finished listening to Siti Nurhaliza's new album. Oh fine. Datuk Siti Nurhaliza.
Overall I think the album is okay. Well of course, it's Siti. My ultimate (and only) bias in local entertainment scene. She's flawless from my point of view. Don't bother arguing. I'm obsess like that.
The logical side of me don't think this album is her best. My personal favourite is still EMAS. Yeah whatever.
Anyway I remember some comments I came across when this album was released. Some people had been dissing her English and say things like she should stick to Malay songs. That's the problem with local people, Malays especially. They can never support their own people. But when one particular person achieved success, they'd start claiming their 'rights' from the success. Boo you non-supportive Malaysians. Oh anyway, this is no Gambit-Prema-Yin-Marilah kind of thing so showing some love for it is so not wrong, you see.
Well, it's general knowledge that Siti's English is not up to standard. But, I have no problem at all with her pronunciation in any of the songs in this album. I can get what she was saying (in this case singing) without referring to the lyrics. That's good enough for me. I remember one of the comments I read regarding her English - "Siti cannot sing in english. Her grammer suck" and I was like....WTF? Lulz at you. No, I don't believe that was a typo because apparently A LOT of Malaysians fail to spell GRAMMAR just because the pronunciation is gram-mer. You people should really teach yourself first before you try telling anyone to correct themselves. Back to Siti, I salute her effort in learning English and she's improving with time. How do I know? Well, I've been listening to Siti for more than 10 f'ing years so that's how I know. You got prob meh?
There were also people who got Kpop involved with all this Siti-vs-English-arguments. They were (and keep on) saying that Kpop can invade the world (ha-ha-ha delusional) though they dont sing in English. So why didn't Siti stick to Malay even if she really wanted to enter International market? LMAO. I'm not going to say anything about that "Kpop invaded the world" part since I love Kpop too but to say it all happened without English being involved is just totally delusional. Before Wonder Girls debuted in the US, have you ever heard of Kpop? I started listening to Kpop years ago and during that time it's just a norm to be laughed at for listening to songs I didn't even understand. But now, I can listen to Kpop almost everywhere. And that didn't start just like that. Wonder Girl's Nobody became a big hit and that was the English version. After people listened to that, they started digging out the original Korean version and later expanded their search on other Kpop stuffs. Get my point here? Let me make it clear - If Nobody wasn't translated and marketed in English, Kpop will stay anonymous to most people in the world. Therefore, saying Kpop succeeded solely on their mother tongue language is unacceptable. Now, you better stand in front of the mirror and boo your stupidity.
Why am I ranting about Kpop?
So, say whatever you want to say people. I'm proud of Siti and her latest album since it had been her biggest dream to come out with an English album. Now that she'd achieved her dream, you people bashed her. What a shame, losers. At least she achieved her dream, and she's rolling in millions of money. How about you? Still there adding fat to your bottoms while sitting in front of your PCs and troll around, aren't you? Go get a hobby, really.
And dear Siti, please don't stop singing and producing album. Or else the local industry will really really lost something so valuable. Nothing in the current industry can really make Malaysians proud, honestly. I mean, you don't expect us to go crazy over Max 24:7 do you? And Siti, the moment you stop singing is the moment I stop listening to local scenes. OK it's not that I really listen to them anyway but at least you gave me a reason not to ask my family members to change the radio station whenever they tuned to Era/Hot/Sinar/Klasik fm(?). Anyway you've faced far worse criticism than this so I guess You're gonna be okay. *Playing your "All Over Again" in the background as inspirational song*
I really made it sounds like Siti's currently reading my blog munching Nachos, didn't I? Oh-my-......
Delusional.
